UCHITTA ഉച്ചിട്ട:
‘അടിയേരി മഠത്തില്‍ ഉച്ചിട്ട ഭഗവതി’ എന്നാണു ഈ ഭഗവതി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.‘വടക്കിനകത്തച്ചി’ എന്നും വിളിപ്പേരുണ്ട്. മന്ത്രവാദ പാരമ്പര്യമുള്ള ഇല്ലങ്ങളിലും വീടുകളിലും വിശേഷാല്‍ കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുന്ന തെയ്യമാണിത്. മലയ സമുദായത്തില്‍ പെട്ടവരാണ് ഈ തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്‌. വേലരും കെട്ടിയാടാറുണ്ട്. സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ഇഷ്ടദേവത കൂടിയാണ് അതിസുന്ദരിയായ ഈ ഭഗവതി. പഞ്ച മൂര്ത്തികളിലും മന്ത്രമൂര്ത്തികളിലും പ്രമുഖയാണ് ഈ തെയ്യം. മാനുഷ ഭാവത്തിലാണ് ഈ തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ വാമൊഴികള്‍ എന്നതൊരു പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. പ്രമുഖ മാന്ത്രിക ഇല്ലങ്ങളായ കാളകാട്, കാട്ടുമാടം, പുത്തില്ലം, പൂന്തോട്ടം തുടങ്ങിയവയാണ് പ്രധാന ആരൂഡങ്ങള്‍.
ഉച്ചിട്ടയുടെ ഉല്‍പ്പത്തിയെക്കുറിച്ച് വിത്യസ്ത കഥകള്‍ പ്രചാരത്തിലുണ്ടു. അതിലൊന്ന് കൃഷ്ണന് പകരം കംസന്‍ കൊല്ലാന്‍ ഒരുങ്ങിയ യോഗമായയാണ് ഉച്ചിട്ട എന്നതാണ്. മറ്റൊന്ന് ശിവപുത്രിയാണ് എന്നുള്ളതാണ്. വേറൊന്നുള്ളത് ഇങ്ങിനെയാണ്‌: അഗ്നി ദേവന്റെ ജ്യോതിസ്സില്‍ നിന്നും അടര്‍ന്ന്‍ വീണ കനല്‍ ബ്രഹ്മദേവന്റെ ഇരിപ്പിടമായ താമരയില്‍ ചെന്ന് വീണ് അതില്‍ നിന്നും ദിവ്യ ജ്യോതിസ്സോടു കൂടിയ സുന്ദരിയായ ദേവിയുണ്ടായിയെന്നും ആ ദേവിയെ ബ്രഹ്മാവ്‌ അവിടെ നിന്ന് കാമദേവന്‍ വഴി പരമശിവനു സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചുവെന്നും പിന്നീട് ഭൂമി ദേവിയുടെ അപേക്ഷ പ്രകാരം ദേവി ശിഷ്ട ജന പരിപാലനാര്‍ത്ഥം ഭൂമിയില്‍ വന്നു മാനുഷ രൂപത്തില്‍ കുടിയിരുന്നുവെന്നുമാണ് കഥ. അഗ്നിപുത്രിയായത് കൊണ്ടാണ് തീയില്‍ ഇരിക്കുകയും കിടക്കുകയും തീ കനല്‍ വാരി കളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്നും പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. തമാശക്കാരിയായ ഈ തെയ്യക്കോലം സ്ത്രീകള്‍ ഏറെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ദേവിയാണ്. സുഖ പ്രസവകാരിണിയായ ഈ ദേവി പാര്‍വതി ദേവിയുടെ സങ്കല്പം ആണ്. ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ അട്ടഹസിച്ചതിനാല്‍ ഉച്ചിട്ടയായി എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. കംസന്റെ അന്തകന്‍ ഭൂമിയില്‍ പിറന്നുവെന്നു ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞ ദേവി എന്നും ഐതിഹ്യമുണ്ട്.

This Bhagavathy is known as ‘Uchitta Bhagavathy in Atiyeri Math’. She is also nicknamed as ‘Vadakinakathachi’.
This is a particularly popular ritual in Illams and houses with magical traditions. This Theyam is tied by the Malaya community. Velars are also tied. This beautiful Bhagavathy is also the favorite goddess of women. This Theyam is prominent among Pancha Murthys and Mantramurthys. It is a peculiarity that the utterances of this Theiyat are in human form. The major arudhas are the famous Mantric Illams like Kalakadu, Kattumadam, Putillam and Bhattan.
There are various stories about the origin of Uchitta. One of them is that Uchitta is a Yogama ready to kill Kamsa instead of Krishna. Another is that she is the daughter of Shiva. Another story is as follows: the coal that fell from the Jyotsis of Lord Agni fell on the lotus which is the seat of Lord Brahma and from it a beautiful Goddess with divine Jyotsis was born and from there Brahma offered that Goddess to Lord Shiva through Lord Kamadeva and later on the request of Goddess Bhumi she came to Earth and drank in the form of a human being. It is also said that because she is the daughter of Agni, she sits and lies on the fire and plays with the coals. This fun-loving Theiyakolam is a goddess loved by women. Goddess Parvati is the conception of Goddess Parvati, who is the perfect giver of birth. It is said to have become loud because it was laughed out loud. There is also a legend that the goddess called out loudly that Kamsa’s son was born on earth.
