വെളുത്ത ഭൂതം തെയ്യം

ഭൂതാരാധനയ്ക്ക് തുളുനാട്ടിലുള്ള പ്രാധാന്യം കേരളത്തിലില്ല. എങ്കിലും തെയ്യാട്ടത്തിന്റെ രംഗത്ത് ഭൂതാരാധനയും നിലനില്ക്കുന്നു. വെളുത്തഭൂതം, കരിംപൂതം, ചുവന്നഭൂതം എന്നീ തെയ്യങ്ങൾ ശിവാംശഭൂതങ്ങളാണ്. ദുർമൃതിയടഞ്ഞ പ്രേതപിശാചുക്കളിൽ  ചിലതും ‘ഭൂത’മെന്ന വിഭാഗത്തിൽ വരുന്നുണ്ട്. അണങ്ങ്ഭൂതം, കാളർഭൂതം, വട്ടിപ്പൂതം എന്നിവ അതിനു  തെളിവാണ്.എന്നാൽ തെയ്യത്തിലെ ചില ദേവതകളെ (പഞ്ചുരുളി തുടങ്ങിയവർ ) ഭൂതക്കോലങ്ങളായി കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഭൂതം  എന്ന് അവരെയും  വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാറുണ്ട്.(ഉദാ:പഞ്ചുരുളി ഭൂതം ) ‘യക്ഷി’ എന്ന പേരിലുള്ള  ദേവതയൊന്നും തെയ്യത്തിൽ  കാണുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും  ചില ഭഗവതിമാരും ചാമുണ്ഡികളും യക്ഷീസങ്കല്പത്തി ലുള്ളവയാണെന്നാണു പുരാസങ്കല്പം. കരിഞ്ചാമുണ്ഡി ഒരു യക്ഷിത്തെയ്യമാണെന്നു കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു. പൈതങ്ങളെയും കോഴികളെയും  പിടിച്ചു ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന  ഒരു ഭീകര ദേവതയാണെന്നു മാത്രമേ തോറ്റംപാട്ടിൽ പറയുന്നുള്ളൂ. വേലന്മാർ കെട്ടിയാടാറുള്ള  പുള്ളിച്ചാമുണ്ഡി എന്ന തെയ്യം  വണ്ണാന്മാർ കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന കരിഞ്ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ  സങ്കല്പത്തിലുള്ളതു തന്നെയാണ്. പുള്ളിഭഗവതിയും  യക്ഷി  സങ്കല്പത്തിലുള്ളതാണെന്നു  കരുതി വരുന്നു. കരിഞ്ചാമുണ്ഡിയുടെ കൂട്ടുകാരികളിലൊന്നത്രെ ആ ഉഗ്രദേവത. കാമൻ, ഗന്ധർവൻ എന്നീ സങ്കല്പങ്ങളിലും തെയ്യങ്ങൾ കെട്ടിയാടാറുണ്ട്.
