ORAVANKARA BHAGAVATHI – ഒറവങ്കര ഭഗവതി:

ദാരികാന്തകിയായ കാളി തന്നെയാണ് ഒറവങ്കര ഭഗവതി. വണ്ണാന്‍ സമുദായക്കാരാണ് ഈ തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്‌. മാതമംഗലത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള പാണപ്പുഴഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ഒറവച്ചുനക്കരയില്‍ തണ്ടയാര്‍ശന്‍ ആയുധ വിശാരദാനായിരുന്നു. കേളികേട്ട ഈ ഗുരുക്കളെ പരീക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ ഒരിക്കല്‍ ചിറക്കല്‍ തമ്പുരാന്‍ കോവിലകത്തെക്ക് വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. ദേവീ ഭക്തനായ ഗുരുക്കള്‍ യാത്രാമദ്ധ്യേ ചിറക്കല്‍ കളരിവാതുക്കല്‍ ഭഗവതിയെ ധ്യാനിച്ചിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ വാതില്‍പ്പടിയില്‍ ഒരു നാന്തക വല മിന്നി തിളങ്ങി. ആ വാളുമായി രാജപരീക്ഷ നേരിട്ട് വിജയം വരിച്ച ഗുരുക്കള്‍ ജന്മദേശത്തെ ഉറവച്ചുനക്കരയില്‍ വാള്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ടിക്കുകയും ഉറവങ്കരയിലെത്തിയ ദേവിയെ ഉറവങ്കര ദേവി എന്ന് പേരിട്ടു കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങി.
