03- അമ്മ ദൈവങ്ങള്‍:
തെയ്യക്കോലങ്ങളില്‍ തൊണ്ണൂറു ശതമാനവും പെണ്‍ കോലങ്ങളാണ്. ഭഗവതി, ചാമുണ്ഡി, കാളി, ഭദ്രകാളി എന്നീ പേരുകളിലാണ് ഇവര്‍ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഈ ദേവതാഗണത്തെ അമ്മ ദേവതമാര്‍ എന്ന് പറയാം. ദാരികാസുര നിഗ്രഹം നടത്തിയ മഹാകാളിയുടെ കഥയുമായി എഴുപതിലേറെ തെയ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഉറഞ്ഞാടുന്നുണ്ട്. തായിപ്പരദേവത, പോര്‍ക്കലി ഭഗവതി, വല്ലാര്‍കുളങ്ങര ഭഗവതി, അഷ്ടമച്ചാല്‍ ഭഗവതി, നിലമംഗലത്ത് ഭഗവതി, കമ്മാടത്ത് ഭഗവതി, കരക്കീല്‍ ഭഗവതി, കളരിക്കല്‍ ഭഗവതി, കാപ്പാട്ട് ഭഗവതി, ചെമ്പിലോട്ടു ഭഗവതി, പാച്ചേനി ഭഗവതി, പാലംകുളങ്ങര ഭഗവതി,ചാമക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി എന്നിങ്ങനെ അതത് കാവിന്റെയോ ഗ്രാമത്തിന്റെ വിളിപ്പേര് ചേര്‍ത്താണ് മഹാ കാളിയെ കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുന്നത്.

അമ്മ ദേവതകളായ ചാമുണ്ടിമാരും ഏറെയുണ്ട്. വീരചാമുണ്ഡി, രക്തചാമുണ്ടി, മടയില്‍ ചാമുണ്ഡി, പന്നിക്കുളത്ത് ചാമുണ്ഡി, കുണ്ടോറ ചാമുണ്ഡി, മൂവാളം കുഴി ചാമുണ്ഡി, കൈത ചാമുണ്ഡി, പടിഞ്ഞാറെ ചാമുണ്ഡി, കരിഞ്ചാമുണ്ടി, കിഴക്കേറ ചാമുണ്ഡി, കോളിയാട്ടു ചാമുണ്ഡി തുടങ്ങി നാല്‍പ്പതിലേറെ ചാമുണ്ടിമാരെ കാവുകളില്‍ കെട്ടിയാടിച്ചു വരുന്നുണ്ട്. ചണ്ട മുണ്ടന്‍മാരെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ച ദേവിക്ക് മഹാകാളി കനിഞ്ഞു നല്‍കിയ പേരാണത്രേ ചാമുണ്ഡി.

കാളി എന്ന പേരിലും അനേകം മാതൃദേവതമാരുണ്ട്. വീരര്‍ കാളി, ചുടലഭദ്രകാളി, കരിങ്കാളി, കൊടുങ്കാളി, കുതിരക്കാളി, പഞ്ചുരുകാളി, ചൂട്ടക്കാളി, പരവക്കാളി, തൂവക്കാളി, പുലിയൂര്‍ കാളി, പുള്ളികരിങ്കാളി, ഭദ്രകാളി തുടങ്ങിയ തെയ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഉദാഹരണം.
അമ്മ ദേവതമാരായ കന്യകാ ദേവതകള്‍ ഇവരാണ്: പഞ്ചുരുളി തെയ്യം, മുച്ചിലോട്ട് ഭഗവതി, നാഗകന്നി, കന്നിമാണി, കണ്ണമംഗലം ഭഗവതി, പുന്നക്കാല്‍ ഭഗവതി, വേങ്ങാക്കോട്ടു ഭഗവതി, ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതി, പൂമാല ഭഗവതി തുടങ്ങിയ ദൈവങ്ങള്‍ കന്യകമാരാണ്. കന്യകാസങ്കല്പം നിലനിര്‍ത്താന്‍ വേണ്ടിയാണ് മുച്ചിലോട്ട് ഭഗവതിക്ക് താലികെട്ടാന്‍ തുടങ്ങുമ്പോള്‍ ‘അന്തിത്തിരിയന് വാലായ്മ’ എന്ന് വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു ചടങ്ങ് മുടക്കുന്നത്.
ഭഗവതി തെയ്യം:
അച്ചി എന്നും പോതി എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതും ഈ തെയ്യമാണ്.
കണ്ണിൽ മഷി, മുഖത്തും ദേഹത്തും മനയോലയും ചായില്യവും ചാലിച്ചത്. നെറ്റിയിൽ മൂന്ന് വരക്കുറി.ചെവിതൊട്ട് താടിവരെ മൂന്ന് കുറി. തലയിൽ വെള്ള കെട്ടും. അതിനു മുകളിൽ തലപ്പാളി. അതിനു മുകളിൽ പോതിപ്പട്ടം. രണ്ടുകൈയിലും മുരിക്കിൽ തീർത്ത നാലുകൈവളകൾ. അരയിൽ ചുവന്ന പട്ട്. കാലിൽ ചിലമ്പ്.
ഭഗവതി തെയ്യത്തിനു് പല വകഭേദങ്ങളുണ്ടു്.
ഭഗവതി, കാളി, ചാമുണ്ഡി, ഈശ്വരി എന്നീ പേരുകളിലാണ് മിക്ക അമ്മദൈവങ്ങളും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇതിനു പുറമേ ‘അച്ചി’ എന്നും ‘പോതി’ എന്നും കൂടി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്.
Mother Gods:

By adding the nickname of the village, Maha Kali is tied up.

There are also many Chamundis who are mother goddesses. More than 40 Chamundi are tied in the caves like Veera Chamundi, Rakta Chamundi, Madail Chamundi, Pannikulath Chamundi, Kundora Chamundi, Muvalam Kogi Chamundi, Kaita Chamundi, West Chamundi, Karinchamundi, East Chamundi, Koliattu Chamundi. Chamundi is the name given by Mahakali to the goddess who destroyed Chanda Mundans.

There are many mother goddesses also named Kali. Examples are Veerer Kali, Chutalabhadrakali, Karinkali, Kodunkali, Khitriyakali, Panchurukali, Chuttakali, Paravakali, Thuvakali, Puliyur Kali, Pullikarinkali and Bhadrakali.
The mother deities are virgin deities: Panchuruli Theyam, Muchilot Bhagavathy, Nagakanni, Kannimani, Kannamangalam Bhagavathy, Punnakal Bhagavathy, Vengakotu Bhagavathy, Ayiti Bhagavathy, Poomala Bhagavathy etc. are virgins. In order to maintain the concept of virginity, when Muchilot starts tying the thali to Bhagwati, he interrupts the ceremony by shouting 'Antithiriyan Valaima'.
Bhagwati Theyam:
This Theiya is also known as Achi and Pothi.
