വരവിളി
കോലക്കാരൻ(തെയ്യം കെട്ടുന്ന ആൾ) ധരിക്കുന്ന വേഷത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ എഴുന്നള്ളിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി ചൊല്ലുന്ന പാട്ടിനെയാണ് തെയ്യത്തോറ്റം എന്ന് പറയുന്നത്. വരവിളി തോറ്റത്തിലെ ഒരു പ്രധാന ഭാഗമാണ്‌. കോലക്കാരനിൽ ദൈവത്തെ ആവാഹിക്കാനുള്ള പ്രാർത്ഥനാപൂർ‌വ്വമായ വിളിയാണ്‌ വരവിളി. നന്താര്‍ വിളക്കിനും തിരുവായുധത്തിനും അരിയിട്ട് വന്ദിക്ക എന്നാരംഭിച്ച് ഹരി വര്‍ദ്ധിക്ക വാണാളും വര്‍ദ്ധനയും എന്നാടിയ ശേഷം ….

നിങ്ങളിതൊരു പള്ളിയറ നാലുഭാഗം അടിച്ചു തളിച്ചു
നാലുഭാഗത്തും നാലുപൊന്നിന്‍ നന്താര്‍ വിളക്ക് വെച്ച്
നടുവെയഴകിതൊരു പള്ളിശ്രീ പീഠമിട്ട്

ആദിമൂലമായിരിപ്പൊരു പര ദേവതേ
തോറ്റത്തെ കേള്‍ക്ക..
എന്നിങ്ങനെ പാടും. ഈ വരവിളി മിക്ക തെയ്യങ്ങൾക്കും പൊതുവിലുള്ളതാണ്. എങ്കിലും ഓരോ തെയ്യത്തിനും ഓരോവിധം വരവിളിയാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ ഏതു തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ തോറ്റമാണ്‌ എന്നറിയാന്‍ വരവിളി അവസാനിക്കുന്ന വര്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചാല്‍ മാത്രം മതി. “ഞാന്‍ ചൊല്ലും തോറ്റത്തെക്കെട്ട് പാമാടപ്പലമ്മേല്‍കളിച്ചു വിളയാടി കുടികൊള്ളുവാന്‍ വരിക വരിക വേണം കതിവന്നൂര്‍ വീരന്‍” എന്നുള്ളത് കതിവന്നൂര്‍ വീരന്റെ വരവിളിയാണ്. അവിടെ കതിവന്നൂര്‍ വീരന്‍ എന്നുള്ളിതത്ത് പെരുമ്പുഴയച്ചന്‍ എന്നാണെങ്കില്‍ അത് പെരുമ്പുഴയച്ചന്‍ തെയ്യത്തിന്റെതായിരിക്കും. ദേവതയുടെ പേരും ഊരും മാറ്റി പാടുകയാണു ചെയ്യുക. ‘തോറ്റം’ എന്ന് പൊതുവേ പറയുന്ന അനുഷ്ഠാനപ്പാട്ടുകളിൽ സ്തുതികളും കീർത്തനങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടും. അടിസ്ഥാനപരമായ ‘മൂലത്തോറ്റ’ങ്ങൾക്കു പുറമേയാണിവ.

പൊലിച്ചു പാട്ട്
നാട്,നഗരം,പീഠം,ആയുധം,തറ,കാവ്, മറ്റു സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് പൊലിക,പൊലിക(ഐശ്വര്യം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കൽ)പാടുന്നതാണ്‌ പൊലിച്ചു പാട്ട്. ഇതിൽ തെയ്യങ്ങളുടെ സഞ്ചാരപഥം (നടവഴി), കുടി കൊണ്ടസ്ഥാനം, തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ കഥ എന്നിവ ഉൾകൊള്ളുന്നു. പോരാതെ വാഴ്ക,വാഴ്ക എന്ന വാഴ്ത്തു പാട്ടും ഇതിൽ ഉണ്ടാകും. ധര്‍മ ദേവതകളെ പാടിപ്പുകഴ്ത്തുകയാണ് ഇതിലൂടെ ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ദൈവിക ചൈതന്യം മുഴുവനായും കോലക്കാരനിലേക്ക് ആവാഹിച്ചെടുക്കാനുള്ള കീര്‍ത്തന ഭാഗമാണിത്.

എന്നാരംഭിക്കുന്ന പാട്ട് ഭൈരവന്‍ തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ പൊലിച്ചു പാട്ടിലുള്ളതാണ്. ചില തെയ്യങ്ങള്‍ പൊലിച്ചു പാട്ടിന്റെ അന്ത്യത്തില്‍ തന്നെ ഉറഞ്ഞുതുള്ളി തുടങ്ങും.
ഉറച്ചിൽ തോറ്റം
പൊലിച്ചുപാട്ട് കഴിഞ്ഞാലുള്ള ഭാഗമാണ്‌ ഉറച്ചിൽ തോറ്റം. പതിഞ്ഞ ഈണത്തില്‍ തെയ്യമോ തോറ്റമൊ ഒറ്റ ചെണ്ടയുടെ താളത്തില്‍ പാടിപ്പാടി ഒരു നിശ്ചിത സമയമാകുമ്പോള്‍ ഉറയാന്‍ തുടങ്ങും ഈ സമയത്ത് ഏറെ ചെണ്ടകളുടെ അകമ്പടികളോടെ ഒന്നിലേറെ സഹായികള്‍ ഒത്തുകൂടി മുറുകിയ താളക്രമത്തില്‍ തോറ്റം പാട്ട് പാടുന്നതിനെയാണ് ഉറച്ചില്‍ തോറ്റം എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

Demolition song
