ANKAKKARAN അങ്കക്കാരന്‍:
കടത്തനാട്ടു സ്വരൂപത്തില്‍പ്പെട്ട പ്രദേശങ്ങളില്‍ മുന്നൂറ്റാന്‍മാര്‍ കെട്ടിയാടിക്കാറുള്ള തിറയാണ് അങ്കക്കാരന്‍. തീയ സമുദായക്കാരുടെ ആരാധനാ മൂര്ത്തികളില്‍ ഒന്നാണിത്. മറുതോലയുമായുള്ള പോരാട്ടം ഇതിന്റെ ഒരു സവിശേഷതയാണ്. പയ്യൂര്‍ മലകളില്‍ വെച്ച് അങ്കക്കാരന്‍ മറുതോലയായ (ശത്രുവായ) കേളുവിനെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. അതിനു ശേഷം കേളു മുന്ന് തവണ ഒളിച്ചിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ മൂന്നാം വട്ടം കേളുവിനെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. തെയ്യം കെട്ടുമ്പോള്‍ മറുതോലയായി ചുവന്ന നെറ്റിപ്പട്ടം കെട്ടിയ ഒരാള്‍ വാളുമായി വരും. അവരില്‍ നിന്നും വാള് വാങ്ങി അങ്കക്കാരന്‍ പരാജിതനെ കൊല്ലുന്നതായി കാണിക്കും. അങ്കക്കാരന്‍ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ തന്നെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്‍ എന്നാണര്‍ത്ഥം. പാരമ്പര്യരീതിയിലുള്ള പയറ്റില്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെടുന്നയാള്‍ എന്നും പറയും. നല്ലൊരു കളരിഅഭ്യാസി കൂടിയായ കോലക്കാരന്‍ കേട്ടിയാലെ ഈ തെയ്യം ശോഭിക്കൂ. ഭക്തര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ കളവു മുതല്‍ ആഭരണങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവ തിരികെ ലഭിക്കാനും ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസുകളില്‍ തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ജയമുണ്ടാകാനും ഒക്കെ ഈ തെയ്യത്തെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.
ചേരമാന്‍ കെട്ടില്‍ പടനായരുടെ സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തിലുള്ള കരിവഞ്ചാല്‍ ദൈവത്താര്‍ എന്ന തെയ്യത്തെയും അങ്കക്കാരന്‍ എന്ന് പറയാറുണ്ട്‌. വണ്ണാന്‍ സമുദായക്കാരാണ് ഈ തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടാറുള്ളത്. യുദ്ധ പരാക്രമിയായ ഒരാളുടെ സ്മരണക്ക് വേണ്ടി കെട്ടുന്ന ഒരു തെയ്യമായാണ് ഇതിനെ കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്.

Ankakaran is a curtain that is used by three hundred people in the areas of Kadtanat Swarupa.
This is one of the worship idols of the Thea community. A feature of this is the fight with Maruthola. Ankakaran defeats Maruthola (enemy) Kelu at Payyur mountains. After that Kelu was hiding three times and the third time Kelu is found and killed. While tying theyam, a man with a red turban tied on his forehead comes with a sword. Ankakar will be shown killing the loser by taking the sword from them. Ankakara means one who fights. One who engages in traditional piet is also said. If Kolakaran, who is also a good Kalari Abhyasya, listens to this theyam, shine. Devotees worship this Theiyam to get back their stolen jewelery etc. and to win their criminal cases.
Ankakaran is also said to be Karivanchal Daivathar in Cheraman Khut. This theyam is woven by the Vannan community. It is considered as a theiya which is tied to the memory of a warrior.
