AYITTI BHAGAVATHI (UCHOOLIKADAVATH BHAGAVATHI ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതിയും ഉച്ചൂളികടവത്ത് ഭഗവതിയും:
ആര്യനാട്ടില്‍ നിന്നും മലനാട്ടിലേക്ക് രണ്ടു കപ്പലുകളിലായി യാത്ര തിരിച്ച ദേവിമാരാണ്‌ ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതിയും ഉച്ചൂളിക്കടവത്ത് ഭഗവതിയും. ഉച്ചൂളിക്കടവത്ത് ഭഗവതിയുടെ കപ്പല്‍ അപകടത്തിലായപ്പോള്‍ ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതി സ്വന്തം കപ്പലില്‍ കയറ്റി. ഇരുപേരും ചങ്ങാതികളായി മാറി. എന്നാല്‍ ഇവര്‍ രണ്ടും പേരും ഒരേ ദേവിമാരാണെന്ന അഭിപ്രായവും ഉണ്ട്. ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതിയുടെ മറ്റൊരു പേരാണ് ഉച്ചൂളി കടവത്ത് ഭഗവതി എന്നാണു ആ അഭിപ്രായക്കാര്‍ പറയുന്നത്. വണ്ണാന്‍ സമുദായക്കാരാണ് ഈ തെയ്യവും കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്‌.
മുകയരുടെ കുലദൈവമാണ് പുന്നക്കാല്‍ ഭഗവതി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതി. ഇവര്‍ക്ക് ‘പത്തുകൊറെ നാന്നൂറ്’ തെയ്യങ്ങളുണ്ട്. നാന്നൂറില്‍ പത്തു കുറഞ്ഞാല്‍ മുന്നൂറ്റി തൊണ്ണൂറ്. ഇവരുടെ പ്രാചീനമായ തറവാട് കണ്ണൂര്‍ ജില്ലയിലെ കുറവന്തേരി വലിയ തറവാടാണത്രെ. എല്ലാവര്‍ഷവും കുംഭമാസം പതിനഞ്ചിന് ആരംഭിച്ചു നാലു നാള്‍ നീണ്ടു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന താനത്തെ ഉത്സവത്തിനു എല്ലാ മുകയ സമുദായക്കാരും ഇവിടെ ഒത്തു കൂടും. ഇവരുടെ പതിനൊന്ന് മുകയത്താനത്തിന്റെയും കേന്ദ്രം ചെറുവത്തൂരിനടുത്തുള്ള കാടങ്കോടു പുന്നക്കാല്‍ ഭഗവതി താനമാണ്. ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതി പയ്യക്കാല്‍ ഭഗവതി, പുന്നക്കാല്‍ ഭഗവതി എന്നീ ഗ്രാമ പേരുകളിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ ആര്യപൂമാല ഭഗവതിയായും, നിലമംഗലത്ത് ഭഗവതിയായും ആര്യക്കര ഭഗവതിയായും പല പേരുകളില്‍ ഈ ദേവി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. വേങ്ങാക്കോട്ട് ഭഗവതിക്കും ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതി സങ്കല്‍പ്പമാണുള്ളത്‌.
ദേവി കപ്പല്‍ വഴി വരുമ്പോള്‍ എടത്തൂരാമഴിയില്‍ വെച്ച് നെല്ലിക്കാതീയനെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടുകയും കൂടെ പോവുകയുമാണ് ഉണ്ടായതു. ആയിറ്റി കാവില്‍ കുടിയിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ ആയിറ്റി ഭഗവതി എന്ന് വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

Ayiti Bhagavathy and Uchulikadavath Bhagavathy are the goddesses who traveled from Aryanadu to Malanadu in two ships. When Bhagwati's ship was in danger at Uchulikadavat, Ayiti took Bhagwati on board her own ship. Both became friends. But there is an opinion that these two names are the same goddess. Those commentators say that Uchuli Kadavath Bhagavathy is another name of Ayiti Bhagavathy. This Theiyam is tied by the Vannan community.
Ayiti Bhagavathy also known as Punnakal Bhagavathy is the family deity of Mukayas. They have 'ten and four hundred'. Ten less than four hundred is three hundred and ninety. Their ancient ancestral home is Kumantheri in Kannur district. Every year, all the Mukaya community members gather here for the Tanate festival which starts on the 15th of Kumbh month and lasts for four days. The center of all their eleven Mukayathanas is Bhagavathy Thanam at Kadankodu Punnakal near Cheruvathur. Ayiti Bhagavathy is also known by the village names Payyakal Bhagavathy and Punnakal Bhagavathy. Also, this goddess is known by many names as Aryapoomala Bhagavathy, Nilamangalam Bhagavathy and Aryakara Bhagavathy. Vengakot Bhagavathy also has the concept of Ayiti Bhagavathy.
When Devi was coming by ship, she met Nellikatiyaan at Edathuramazhi and went with her. Ayiti was called Bhagavati because she lived in the cave.
