KANNANGHATT BHAGAVATHI - കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി:
ശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണ സഹോദരിയായ യോഗമായ ദേവിയാണ് ശ്രീ കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്‍ തന്റെ സ്വര്‍ഗാരോഹണ സമയത്ത് തന്റെ പിന്മുറയിലുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് ആരാധിക്കാന്‍ യോഗമായ ദേവിയെ കാട്ടിക്കൊടുത്തുവെന്നും അങ്ങിനെ കണ്ണന്‍ കാട്ടിയ ദൈവമായത് കൊണ്ടാണ് കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി എന്ന പേര് വന്നതെന്നും അതല്ല ദേവകിയുടെ എട്ടാമത്തെ കുട്ടിയാണെന്ന് തെറ്റിദ്ധരിച്ചു തന്നെ കൊല്ലാന്‍ ഒരുങ്ങിയ കംസനോട് ഞാനല്ല നിന്റെ അന്തകന്‍ അവന്‍ ജനിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞുവെന്നും പറഞ്ഞ് കണ്ണനെ കാട്ടികൊടുത്തത് കൊണ്ടാണ് കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി എന്ന പേര് വന്നതെന്നും പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. മലബാറിന്റെ വടക്ക് ഭാഗത്ത് കൂടുതലായി കണ്ടു വരുന്ന യാദവ സമുദായക്കാരായ മണിയാണിമാരുടെ കുലദേവതയാണ് ഈ ദേവത. പയ്യാവൂര്‍ പ്രദേശങ്ങളില്‍ പയറ്റിയാല്‍ ഭഗവതി, പഴശ്ശി ഭഗവതി തുടങ്ങിയ പേരുകളില്‍ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു ഈ രൌദ്ര ദേവത. ആദികണ്ണങ്ങാട് കൊറ്റി കണ്ണങ്ങാട് ആണ്. ഇവിടെ നിന്നാണ് ദേവി കണ്ടങ്കാളി മുതല്‍ ആലപ്പടമ്പ് വരെയുള്ള പതിനൊന്ന് കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് കാവിലും സാന്നിധ്യം കൊണ്ടത്‌.
കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതിയുടെ ഇളം കോലമാണ് “തീപ്പാറ്റ”. ഈ കോലം രാത്രിയില്‍ കത്തിജ്വലിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പള്ളിയറക്ക് ചുറ്റിലുമുള്ള ചെറു മേലേരിയിലൂടെ ഒറ്റ ചിലമ്പും കയ്യിലേന്തി പാഞ്ഞോടി വലം വെയ്ക്കും. ഈ രംഗം ചിലപ്പതികാരത്തിലെ കോവല പത്നിയായ കണ്ണകിയെ ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നും കാവ് കാത്തിയെരിയുന്ന മധുരാപുരിയെ ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നുവെന്നും ചിലര്‍ പറയുന്നുണ്ട്.
മുച്ചിലോട്ട് ഭഗവതിയുടെ ഉറ്റ തോഴിയാണ് കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി. ഇരുവരും തമ്മില്‍ നല്ല രൂപ സാദൃശ്യവുമുണ്ട്. മുച്ചിലോട്ട് കാവുകളില്‍ മുച്ചിലോട്ട് ഭഗവതിയുടെ അത്ര പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ തന്നെ കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന തെയ്യമാണ്‌ കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി. വളരെ പതുക്കെയുള്ള ഈ ദേവിയുടെ നൃത്ത ചുവടുകള്‍ ആരെയും ആകര്‍ഷിക്കുന്നതാണ്. ഇരുദേവിയുടെയും കാവുകള്‍ മുച്ചിലോട് എന്നും കണ്ണങ്ങാടും എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. പയ്യന്നൂരിനടുത്തുള്ള എടനാട് (എടാട്ട്) കണ്ണങ്ങാടാണ് ഇതില്‍ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടത്.
മറ്റു സമുദായക്കാര്‍ കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുന്ന മിക്ക തെയ്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കും യാദവക്കാവുകളില്‍ ഇവര്‍ ഇടം നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. എങ്കിലും കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് കാവുകള്‍ എന്ന് വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കാവുകളില്‍ കണ്ണങ്ങാട്ട് ഭഗവതി തന്നെയാണ് മുഖ്യ ദേവത. ദേവിക്ക് പ്രിയങ്കരമെന്നു കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന പൂരക്കളിയിലും യാദവന്മാര്‍ മുന്‍പന്തിയിലാണ്.
പുതിയാര്‍മ്പന്‍: കാപ്പാട്ട് കഴകത്തില്‍ മന്‍മറഞ്ഞു പോയ വീര പോരാളിയായ പുതിയാര്‍മ്പന്‍ എന്ന കുല പൂര്‍വികനെ തെയ്യക്കോലം നല്‍കി ഇവര്‍ ആരാധിച്ചു വരുന്നുണ്ട്. ഇത് കൂടാതെ പുതിയ ഭഗവതിയെയും പണയക്കാട്ട് ഭഗവതിയെയും യാദവര്‍ പ്രധാനമായും ആരാധിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

Kannangat Bhagavathy: Sri Kannangat Bhagwati is Sri Krishna's sister Yogamaya Devi. It is said that during his ascension to heaven, Lord Krishna showed the Goddess Yoga to his successors to worship and thus the name Kannangat Bhagwati came because of the God shown by Kannan or because he showed Kannan to Kamsa who mistakenly thought he was the eighth child of Devaki and was ready to kill him, saying, I am not your son, he has been born. This deity is the clan deity of Maniyanis, a Yadava community mostly found in the northern part of Malabar. This raucous deity is known by names such as Payatiyal Bhagavathy and Pazhassi Bhagavathy in Payayavur regions. Adi Kannangad is Koti Kannangad. It is from here that the goddess Kannangat from Kandankali to Alappadam was present in the eleven kavils.
Kannangat Bhagwati's young kolam is “Theepatta”. At night, this Kolam will run around the small lamp around the burning church, holding a single candle in its hand. Some say that this scene reminds us of Kannaki, the Kovala wife of Chilapathikaram, and Madurapuri, where Kaav waits.
Kannangat Bhagwati is the best friend of Muchilot Bhagwati. There is a good resemblance between the two. Kannangat Bhagwati is the most important goddess in Muchilot Kavs. The very slow dance steps of this goddess are mesmerizing. Both Devi's caves are known as Muchi Lode and Kannangad. The most important of these is Edanad (Etatt) Kannangad near Payyannur.
They have given place to most of the theiyams which other communities do. However, Kannangat Bhagwati is the main deity among the Kavs called Kannangat Kavs. The Yadavas are also at the fore in Purakkali, which is considered dear to the Goddess.
Puthharmpan: They worship Puthharmpan, the clan ancestor, who was a hero warrior who disappeared in Kapat Kazhakam, by offering Theiyakolam. Apart from this, Yadavs mainly worship New Bhagavathy and Panayakat Bhagavathy.
