ഇത് ഒരു ഉഗ്രമായ മാതൃദേവതയാണ് (ഭഗവതി ദേവി) പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ചണ്ടയെയും മുണ്ടയെയും ഉന്മൂലനം ചെയ്ത ഒരാളുടെ, ആളുകളെയും അവരുടെ സ്വത്തിനും കന്നുകാലികൾക്കും ഉപദ്രവിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ അവളെ തൃപ്തിപ്പെടുത്താൻ ഇടം നൽകി. മണ്ഡലത്ത് ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യം തന്റെ അമാനുഷിക ശക്തികളാലും രക്തദാഹത്താലും ഒരു പ്രദേശത്ത് അസ്വസ്ഥതയുണ്ടാക്കിയതാണ്. അവൾക്ക് ഒരു കാവിൽ ഉചിതമായ സ്ഥാനം നൽകുകയും ആളുകളെയും മറ്റ് ജീവജാലങ്ങളെയും ഉപദ്രവിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ വർഷം  തോറും ഒരു തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

ശത്രുക്കളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സംരക്ഷണത്തിനും പ്രേതങ്ങൾ മുതലായ അതിപ്രകൃതി ജീവികളോടുള്ള ഭയം അകറ്റാനും  ആരോഗ്യകരമായ  ജീവിതത്തിനും  വേണ്ടിയാണ് മണ്ഡലത്തു ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യത്തെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്. ശത്രുക്കളെ  പരാജയപ്പെടുത്താനുള്ള   ശക്തി  ലഭിക്കാനും ആഗ്രഹ പൂർത്തീകരണത്തിനും അവളെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.

Mandalath Chamundi

It is a fierce mother goddess (Bhagavati Devi) especially of one who exterminated Chanda and Munda, leaving room to satisfy her without harming people, their property and cattle.

Mandal Chamundi Theyam created unrest in a region with his supernatural powers and bloodlust. She is given a suitable place in a kavil and a theyam is tied annually to prevent her from harming people and other living beings.

Mandalath Chamundi Theiyam is worshiped for protection from enemies, fear of supernatural beings like ghosts and healthy life. She is worshiped to get strength to defeat enemies and wish fulfillment.
