മുടന്തേമ്മ തെയ്യം

ഇതൊരു പെൺ തെയ്യമാണ്. കുടുംബത്തിന്റെയും പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെയും പുരോഗതിക്കായി  നിസ്വാർത്ഥമായ ത്യാഗം  ചെയ്യുന്ന വൃദ്ധയുടെ കഥയാണ് മുടന്തേമ്മ തെയ്യം.

സ്വർണ്ണ നിറത്തിലുള്ള മുഖംമൂടി ധരിച്ച് ശരീരം മറയ്ക്കാൻ പുതിയ വൈനുകളും വള്ളിച്ചെടികളും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന  തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ  പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്.

കേരളത്തിലെ കാസർഗോഡ് മേഖലയിലെ ചിറ്റാരിക്കാൽ കമ്പല്ലൂർ കോട്ടയിൽ തറവാട് ദേവസ്ഥാനം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ (ഒക്ടോബർ 27 മുതൽ ഒക്ടോബർ 28 വരെ) മുടന്തേമ്മ തെയ്യം വർഷം തോറും കെട്ടിയാടുന്നു.

This is a female Theyyam.

Mudanthemma Theyam is the story of an old woman who makes selfless sacrifices for the betterment of her family and region.

Theiyat is characterized by wearing a golden mask and using fresh vines and creepers to cover the body.

Mudantemma Theiyam is celebrated annually at the Tharavad Devasthanam Temple (October 27 to October 28) at Chittarikal Kampallur Fort in Kasaragod region of Kerala.
