MUNDYANPARAMP CHAMUNDI മുണ്ട്യന്‍ പറമ്പ് ചാമുണ്ഡി:
ഐതിഹ്യ പ്രകാരം സപ്തമാതാക്കളില്‍ പെടുന്ന രൌദ്ര മൂര്‍ത്തിയാണ് മുണ്ട്യന്‍ പറമ്പ് ചാമുണ്ഡി. ആളിനെയോ ആനയേയോ കൊന്നു ചോര കുടിച്ചാല്‍ മാത്രം പകയടങ്ങുന്ന ഈ കാളിക്ക് അത് കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ കേട്ടിക്കോലമില്ല. പ്രതി പുരുഷ സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തില്‍ കോമരം മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ. കാവിലേക്ക് ഉറഞ്ഞാടി വരുന്ന കാളിയെ ഭക്ത വത്സലയായ രക്തേശ്വരി തടഞ്ഞു നിര്‍ത്താന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതും സാന്ത്വനിപ്പിച്ചു കാവിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടികൊണ്ട് വരുന്നതുമായ അനുഷ്ഠാനമാണ്‌ വയലാട്ടം. തീപന്തങ്ങള്‍ ദേവിയുടെ കൊപാവസ്ഥയുടെ പ്രതീകങ്ങളാണ്.
മകരം കുംഭം മാസങ്ങളില്‍ തെയ്യാടം തുടങ്ങുമ്പോഴേക്കും മൂവരികഴകത്തിന് താഴെയുള്ള വയല്‍ ഉഴുതു മറിച്ചിട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടാകും. നട്ട പൊരിയുന്ന വെയിലത്ത് ചൂട് അതിന്റെ പാരമ്യതയില്‍ നില്‍ക്കുന്ന സമയത്താണ് വയലാട്ടം നടക്കുക. വയലില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ആട്ടമായത് കൊണ്ടാണ് ഇത് വയലാട്ടം എന്ന പേരില്‍ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. മുണ്ട്യന്‍ പറമ്പില്‍ ചാമുണ്ഡിയുടെ കോമരവും രക്ത്വേശരി കോലവും മുഖത്തോടു മുഖം ചേര്‍ന്ന് നിന്നുള്ള മണിക്കൂര്‍ നീണ്ടു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന കൂടിയാട്ടമാണിത്. നാല് വീതം പന്തമുറപ്പിച്ച ഓരോ പന്തക്കോല്‍ മുണ്ട്യന്‍ പറമ്പ ചാമുണ്ഡി കോമരത്തിന്റെ ഇരു കക്ഷത്തിലും ഉറപ്പിച്ചു കയ്യില്‍ വാളുമായിട്ടാണ് വയലാട്ടം തുടങ്ങുക. ആളും ആരവങ്ങളും ചെണ്ട മേളവും ആട്ടം ഭക്തി നിര്‍ഭരമാക്കും. മുണ്ട്യന്‍ പറമ്പ് ചാമുണ്ടിയുടെ കോപം ശമിപ്പിച്ചു തടഞ്ഞു നിര്‍ത്തുന്ന കഥയാണ് രക്തേശ്വരി വയലാട്ടത്തിലൂടെ പുനരവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.
