മുട്ടിൽ ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യം
തെയ്യം ദേവിയുടെയോ ദേവി ദുർഗ്ഗാഭഗവതിയുടെയോ ഉഗ്രമായ പ്രകടനമാണ്. മുട്ടിൽ ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ കഥ, അവൾ ഒരു ഹോമത്തിൽ നിന്നോ യജ്ഞകുണ്ഡത്തിൽ നിന്നോ (യാഗാഗ്നിയിൽ) പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുകയും പ്രദേശത്തെ ഒരു പ്രമുഖ തറവാട്ടിന്റെ തലവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അനാരോഗ്യത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഭൂതങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും അവൾ കുടുംബത്തെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. അമാനുഷിക ജീവികളാൽ ആക്രമിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കന്നുകാലികളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കാൻ അവൾ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നു. അവളെ ശാന്തയാക്കാനും നാശമുണ്ടാക്കാതിരിക്കാനും അവൾക്ക് ഒരു ആരൂഢമോ ആരാധനാലയമോ നൽകി. അവളുടെ സന്തോഷവും സന്തോഷവും നിലനിർത്താനും അനുഗ്രഹം തേടാനും വർഷം തോറും ഒരു തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നു.
മുടിയേറ്റ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വിശുദ്ധ ശിരോവസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നതാണ് തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന പ്രത്യേകത.
ദേവി ഭക്തരുടെ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ നിറവേറ്റുന്നുവെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ശത്രുക്കളെ തോൽപ്പിക്കാനും ദുഷിച്ച കണ്ണ്, മന്ത്രവാദം എന്നിവയിൽ നിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെടാനും അവൾ പ്രീതി ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു. സാംക്രമിക രോഗങ്ങളെ അകറ്റി ഭക്തർക്ക് നല്ല ആരോഗ്യം നൽകി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുമെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം.
കണ്ണൂർ മേഖലയിലെ മാട്ടൂൽ കൂർമ്പ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എല്ലാ വർഷവും ഫെബ്രുവരി 23 മുതൽ ഫെബ്രുവരി 26 വരെയാണ് മുട്ടിൽ ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്.
Muttil Chamundi Teyyam:
Theyam is a fierce manifestation of Goddess or Goddess Durga Bhagavathy. In the story of Muttil Chamundi Theiyat, she emerges from a homam or yajnakunda (sacrificial fire) and appears before the head of a prominent clan in the area. She protects the family from ill health and demons. She appears to protect herds from being attacked by supernatural beings. To pacify her and prevent her from causing harm, she was given an arudha or shrine. A Theyam is tied annually to maintain her joy and happiness and to seek blessings.
The main feature of Theiyat is the wearing of mudiyate or sacred headgear.
The goddess is believed to fulfill the wishes of the devotees.
She is favored to defeat enemies and ward off the evil eye and witchcraft. It is believed to ward off infectious diseases and bless the devotees with good health.
Every year from February 23 to February 26, Muttil Chamundi Theyam is tied at Matul Koormpa Bhagavathy Temple in Kannur region.
