നിലയറ ഭഗവതി തെയ്യം
ഉത്തര കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രത്യേകിച്ചു കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ പ്രഗത്ഭരായ ബ്രാഹ്മണ സമുദായത്തിലെ നമ്പൂതിരി വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്ന പെരികമന ഇല്ലo തറവാടുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടാണ് നിലയറ ഭഗവതിയുടെ ഉത്പത്തിയും ഉത്ഭവവുo ആഗമനവും എന്നത് നിസ്തർക്കമാണ്.പെരികമന ഇല്ലം പൂർവ്വിക പരമ്പരയിലെ കാരണവരുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടാണ് നിലയറ ഭഗവതിയുടെ ആഗമനം പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്നത്. സർവ്വോപരി സവിശേഷമായ ജീവിത ചര്യ കൊണ്ട് സമുദായത്തിന്റെ തന്നെ പ്രാമാണ്യം നേടാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞ കാരണവർ, സംസ്കൃത ജ്ഞാനവും മന്ത്രതന്ത്ര അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളിലും നൈപുണ്യം നേടിയിരുന്നു. അക്കാലത്ത് കോലത്തുനാടിന്റെ ദേശാധിപത്യo വഹിച്ചിരുന്ന സാമുദായിക വിഭാഗങ്ങളുടെ അടിമ സ്ഥലം എന്ന പേരിലറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ പ്രമുഖമായിരുന്നു രാമന്തളിയിലെ ശങ്കരനാരായണ ക്ഷേത്രം.ശങ്കരനാരായണ മൂർത്തിയെ കുളിച്ചു തൊഴുത് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു വരുന്ന പതിവ് സമുദായത്തിൽ ആഢ്യത്വത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായ് കണ്ടു വരുന്നതാണ്.
ഭഗവതിയമ്മയുടെ ആഗമന ചരിതം
ഊറ്റിത്തടം ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന്റെ വടക്കുഭാഗത്ത് പെരിക മന ഇല്ലം തറവാട് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. അക്കാലത്ത് പ്രഗത്ഭരായ പെരികമന ഇല്ലം കാരണവർ എന്നും രാമന്തളി ശങ്കരനാരായണ മൂർത്തിയെ കുളിച്ചു തൊഴാൻ പോയി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭക്തിയിലും വിശ്വാസത്തിലും ചിട്ടവട്ടങ്ങളിലും ആകാരപ്പെരുമയിലും ആകൃഷ്ടയായ ദേവി, കാരണവർ മടങ്ങിവരും വഴി ഓലക്കുടയിൽ ആവേശിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തോടെ എഴുന്നള്ളുകയാണുണ്ടായതെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. പയ്യന്നൂർ വഴി കാങ്കോൽ അപ്പനെയും തൊഴുതു വന്ന പെരികമന കാരണവർ തറവാട്ടിലെ തേവാര പൂജക്കായി തെച്ചിപ്പൂ പറിക്കാൻ കാനന പാതയിലൂടെയുള്ള യാത്രയിൽ കുട ഒരു പാറക്കല്ലിൽ വച്ച് പൂപറിക്കാനൊരുങ്ങി. പൂ പറിച്ചു വന്ന കാരണവർ കുട തിരിച്ചെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ അമിതമായ ഭാരം അനുഭവപ്പെടുകയുo, തന്നാലാവത് ശ്രമിച്ച കാരണവർ പരിഭ്രാന്തിയിലാണ്ടു . ദേശ പ്രമുഖരായ ദൈവജ്ഞരെ വിളിച്ച് ചിന്തിച്ച പ്രകാരം സ്ഥലദേശപരമായിട്ട് കുടികൊള്ളുന്ന ദേവീചൈതന്യം മന്ത്രതന്ത്ര പുഷ്പാജ്ഞലിയിലും ആകൃഷ്ടയായ ദേവി ഓലക്കുടയിലെ സാന്നിധ്യമറിയിച്ചു. എനിക്കുo മന്ത്രശാലയിൽ മന്ത്രമൂർത്തികൾക്കൊപ്പം പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന സ്ഥാനം നൽകണമെന്നറിയിച്ചു. ഇതുകേട്ട പെരികമന ഇല്ലം കാരണവർ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ഇരു കൈകളാൽ സ്വാഗതമേകി. ഇല്ലത്തെത്തിയ കാരണവർ തന്റെ മന്ത്രമൂർത്തികൾക്കൊപ്പം ഇരിക്കാനൊരിടവും (ഭാന്ത് പരദേവതയായ പണയക്കാട്ട് ഭഗവതിക്കൊപ്പം തൽസ്ഥാനവും നൽകി അവരോധിച്ചു. വന്നെത്തിയ ഭഗവതിയെ മന്ത്രമൂർത്തിയായിട്ടും കുടികൊള്ളുന്ന ദേവീദേവന്മാരാൽ അവരോധിച്ചു. അവധി പരദേവതയായ മന്ത്രമൂർത്തി നിലയറ ഭഗവതിക്ക് സ്ഥാനം കൽപ്പിച്ചു നൽകി.
വടശ്ശേരി പെരികമന ഇല്ലo കളിയാട്ട വിശേഷം
കളിയാട്ട ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ നിലയറ ഭഗവതി, പണയക്കാട്ട് ഭഗവതി എന്നീ ധർമ്മദൈവങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം പുലിക്കണ്ഠൻ ദൈവം,ധൂമാ ഭഗവതി, ഊളന്താട്ട് ഭഗവതി, വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി ,ശ്രീഭൂതം, ഗുളികൻ എന്നീ തെയ്യങ്ങൾക്കു പുറമേ കാട്ടുമൂർത്തയുടെ ഗുരുസി തർപ്പണം അതിവിശേഷാൽ ചടങ്ങാണ് കാട്ടുമൂർത്തി കെട്ടിയാടാറില്ല..,കാലാകാലങ്ങളുടെ വ്യതിയാനമില്ലാതെ അനുഷ്ടാനങ്ങൾ നടന്നുവരുന്നു , ഇവിടുത്തെ കളിയാട്ടം ചിറക്കൽ കോലത്ത് നാട് ഭരണ കാലത്തെ കൽപ്പനകളിയാട്ടമായി ‘നിശ്ചയിച്ചതെന്ന പ്രത്യേകതയും തറവാട്ടിലെ കളിയാട്ടം വിശേഷമുള്ളതാകുന്നു.

Nilayara Bhagwati Theyyam
It is certain that Nilayara Bhagavathy's origin and arrival is related to the Perikamana Illao clan belonging to the Namboothiri section of the prominent Brahmin community in Kannur district in North Kerala.
Above all, the Karanas, who were able to attain the status of the community through their unique lifestyle, were skilled in Sanskrit knowledge and mantra rituals. The Sankara Narayana temple in Ramantali was prominent among the temples known as the slave place of the communal groups who were the rulers of Kolathunad at that time. The Sankara Narayana murthy is seen in the community as a part of adhyatva when they bathe and pray.
Advent story of Bhagavathyamma
Perika Mana Illam Tharavad is situated on the north side of Ootithadam Unnikrishnan.
At that time, Perikamana Illam Karanavar, who was eminent, always went to bathe Ramantali Sankara Narayana Murthy. Attracted by his piety, faith, orderliness, and prowess, the goddess is said to have been enthralled with him on the return journey of Karanavara. Perikamana Karanavar, who had brought Kankol Appa and her husband via Payyannur, was about to pick flowers for the Thevara Puja of the Tharavat, while traveling through the Kanana Path, the umbrella was about to pick flowers on a rock. Those who picked the flowers felt too heavy when they took the umbrella back, and those who tried to do so were in a panic. Devi Chaitanya, who resides locally as per the thought of summoning prominent divines of the country, made her presence known in Olakuda, which was also attracted by Mantra Tantra Pushpajnali. I was told that I should be given a place of consideration in the Mantrashala along with the Mantramurtis. When they heard this, they happily welcomed him with open arms. The Karanavas who came to Illath gave them a place to sit with their mantramurtis (Bhant paradeity Panayakat and a place along with Bhagwati).
Vadassery Perikamana Kaliyattam
