പാലന്തായി കണ്ണൻ തെയ്യം
നീലേശ്വരം രാജാവിന്റെ പടനായരായ പള്ളിക്കരയിലെ കുറുവാട്ടുകുറുപ്പിന്റെ തറവാട്ടിലെ കാലിമേയ്ക്കുന്ന ചെക്കനായിരുന്ന കണ്ണൻ ഒരുവേനലിൽ കണ്ണൻ തളർന്ന് മാവിൽ കയറി മാങ്ങ തിന്ന് വിശപ്പടക്കി.തിന്ന മാങ്ങയുടെ അണ്ടി അലക്ഷ്യമായി വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞു.
അണ്ടി ചെന്നു വീണത്‌ കുറുവാട്ടു കുറുപ്പിന്റെ അനന്തിരവളുടെ മേലായിരുന്നു.വിവരമറിഞ്ഞ കുറുപ്പ്‌ കലിതുള്ളി.തന്റെ കുലത്തെ അപമാനിച്ച കണ്ണനെ വക വരുത്താൻ കുറുപ്പ്‌ വാളുമായി പാഞ്ഞു.പേടിച്ചരണ്ട കണ്ണൻ നാടും വീടും വിട്ട്‌ വടക്കോട്ട്‌ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.മലയാള നാട്‌ കടന്ന് കണ്ണൻ തുളുനാട്ടിലെത്തി.നേത്രാവതിപ്പുഴ കടന്ന് മംഗലാപുരം കോവിൽകുടുപ്പാടി ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ എത്തി.അവിടെ വെച്ച്‌ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയോട്‌ ദാഹജലം ചോദിച്ചു.
കണ്ണന്റെ കഥ കേട്ട ആ മുത്തശ്ശി കണ്ണനോട്‌ അവിടെ താമസിക്കാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.അങ്ങനെ കണ്ണൻ അവിടെ താമസം തുടങ്ങി.വീടിനോട്‌ ചേർന്ന് ഒരു നരസിംഹമൂർത്തി(വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി)ക്ഷേത്രം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.അവിടത്തെ അടിച്ചു തളിയും അന്തിതിരിയും കണ്ണൻ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു.ആ പ്രദേശം ജൈനന്മാരുടെ യാഗ ഭൂമിയായിരുന്നു.യാഗാഗ്നിയിൽ നിന്നും ഉയർന്നു വന്ന ഒരു ഇരുമ്പ്‌ ദണ്ഡ്‌ ആ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്നു.ഒരു നാൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിവേദിക്കാൻ വെച്ചിരുന്ന പാൽ പൂച്ച കുടിച്ചു.പാൽ കാണാഞ്ഞ്‌ മുത്തശ്ശി കണ്ണനോടായി ചോദിച്ചു “പാലെന്തായി കണ്ണാ?” മുത്തശ്ശിയോട്‌ എന്തു പറയും എന്നറിയാതെ അവൻ വിഷമിച്ചു.കാര്യം മനസിലാക്കിയ മുത്തശ്ശി പറഞ്ഞു.സാരമില്ല കണ്ണാ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പേരു ചൊല്ലിയതാണെന്നു കരുതിയാൽ മതി.
.അങ്ങനെ കണ്ണൻ പാലന്തായിക്കണ്ണനായി.
വർഷം 12 കഴിഞ്ഞു കണ്ണൻ യുവാവായി മാറി.പിറന്ന നാടിന്റെയും പെറ്റമ്മയുടെയും ഓർമ്മകൾ കണ്ണനെ അലട്ടാൻ തുടങ്ങി.കണ്ണൻ മുത്തശ്ശിയോട്‌ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞു.സങ്കടത്തോടെ മുത്തശ്ശി സമ്മതം മൂളി.നാടിന്റെ കണ്മണിയായി മാറിയ പാലന്തായിക്കണ്ണനെ യാത്രയാക്കാൻ ഗ്രാമം ഒന്നടങ്കമെത്തി.12 വർഷം താൻ വിളക്ക്‌ വെച്ച്‌ നൈവേദ്യമർപ്പിച്ച വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയുടെ പള്ളിയറ മുന്നിൽ കണ്ണൻ തൊഴു കൈകളോടെ നിന്നു.പൊടുന്നനെ ശ്രീകോവിലിനകത്ത്‌ വെച്ചിരുന്ന ഇരുമ്പ്‌ ദണ്ഡ്‌ തുള്ളിയുറഞ്ഞ്‌ കണ്ണന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വന്നു.കണ്ണനിലും ദൈവാവേശമുണ്ടായി.
മുത്തശ്ശി എടുത്ത്‌ നൽകിയ ഓലക്കുടയുമായി കണ്ണൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.നേത്രാവതിക്കരയിലെത്തിയ കണ്ണൻ തോണിക്ക്‌ കാത്തു നിൽക്കാതെ ജലോപരിതരതലത്തിലൂടെ നടന്ന് നദി കടന്നു.എല്ലാവരും അത്ഭുതത്തോടെ നോക്കി നിന്നു.
എന്നിട്ടും കണ്ണന്റെ കണങ്കാൽ വരെയേ നഞ്ഞുള്ളു.തുളുവിൽ കണങ്കാലിനെ കടേക്കാർ എന്നാണു പറയുക.അങ്ങനെ ആ സ്ഥലം കടേക്കാർ എന്നറിയാൻ തുടങ്ങി.വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി ചൈതന്യം തുളുമ്പുന്ന ദണ്ഡുമായി കണ്ണൻ തന്റെ ദിവ്യ പ്രയാണം തുടർന്നു.
കണ്ണൻ വന്ന വഴിയിലുട നീളം പിന്നീട്‌ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി സാന്നിധ്യമറിയുച്ച്‌ ആരധന നേടി.അങ്ങനെ കണ്ണൻ മൂലപ്പള്ളിപ്പുഴ കടന്ന് മൂലപ്പള്ളി കൊല്ലന്റെ കൊട്ടിലിൽ എത്തി.കയ്യിലെ ദണ്ഡ്‌ കടഞ്ഞ്‌ ചുരികയാക്കി.അവിടെയും പിന്നീട്‌ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രമുയർന്നു.
അങ്ങനെ കണ്ണൻ ജന്മനാടായ നീലേശ്വരത്ത്‌ എത്തി.അപ്പോഴാണു കളിക്കൂട്ടു കാരനായിരുന്ന കനത്താടനെ കണ്ടത്ത്‌.
വിശേഷങ്ങൾ പങ്കു വെച്ച്‌ കണ്ണനെ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക്‌ ക്ഷണിച്ചു ഭക്ഷനത്തിനു മുൻപ്‌ കദളിക്കുളത്തിലിറങ്ങി കുളിക്കാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു ആസമയത്ത്‌ കനത്താടൻ കുറുപ്പിനടുത്തേക്കോടി വിവരമറിയിച്ചു.കുടിപ്പക മൂത്ത്‌ കുറുപ്പ്‌ വാളുമായി കദളിക്കുളത്തിലേക്കോടി.
താമരകൾ നിറഞ്ഞ കുളത്തിലതാ കണ്ണൻ അരയോളം വെള്ളത്തിൽ.മാനിന്റെ നേരെ പുലിയെന്ന കുറുപ്പ്‌ പോലെ കണ്ണനു നേരെ പാഞ്ഞടുത്തു.കുളിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന കണ്ണനെ ആഞ്ഞു വെട്ടി.കണ്ണന്റെ ചോര വീണ കദളിക്കുളം കുരുതിക്കളം പോലെ ചുവന്നു.കൽപ്പടവിൽ വെച്ച കണ്ണന്റെ ചുരികയും കുടയും അയാൾ ചിള്ളിയെറിഞ്ഞു.
ആ മാത്രയിൽ ഓലക്കുടനിന്നു തുള്ളാൻ തുടങ്ങി.കണ്ണന്റെ ചുരിക കദളിക്കുളത്തിലെ താമരകളെയൊക്കെയും അറുത്തിട്ട്‌ പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ട്‌ കുതിച്ചു.പേടിച്ചരണ്ട കുറുപ്പ്‌ ഭ്രാന്തനെപ്പോലെ വീട്ടിലെക്കോടി.അവിടെയെത്തിയ കുറുപ്പ്‌ ഞെട്ടി.തന്റെ തറവാട്‌ നിന്നിടത്ത്‌ ചെമ്മണ്ണും തീപ്പുകയും മാത്രം.ആലയിലെ കാലികളെയെല്ലാം നരിപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.. നാട്‌ മുഴുവൻ അനർത്ഥങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു തുടങ്ങി.കുറുപ്പ്‌ നീലെശ്വരം കൊട്ടാരത്തിലെത്തി തമ്പുരാനെ കണ്ടു.തന്റെ പടനായർക്കു വന്ന ദുസ്ഥിതിയറിയാൻ ജ്യോതിഷിയെ വരുത്തി.കണ്ണന്റെ ചുരികപ്പുറമേറി കീർത്തിയുള്ളൊരു പരദേവത വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും തന്റെ നിസ്വാർത്ഥ ഭക്തിയാൽ കണ്ണനും ദൈവക്കരുവായി മാറിയെന്നും പ്രശ്ന ചിന്തയിൽ തെളിഞ്ഞു.കണ്ണന്റെ ചുരിക ചെന്നു നിന്ന കോട്ടപ്പുറം പൂഴിപ്പരപ്പിൽ കുറുവാട്ട്‌ കുറുപ്പ്‌ സ്വയം കല്ല് ചുമന്ന് ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ച്‌ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയെയും പാലന്തായിക്കണ്ണനെയും പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കണമെന്നും തെളിഞ്ഞു.
അതിൻപ്രകാരം നീലേശ്വരം രാജാവ്‌ തലയിൽ വെച്ച്‌ കൊടുത്ത മുഹൂർത്തക്കല്ലുമായി കുറുപ്പ്‌ കോട്ടപ്പുറത്തെത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം പണിത്‌ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയെയും പാലന്തായികണ്ണനെയും കുടിയിരുത്തി.അങ്ങനെ കോട്ടപ്പുറം ശ്രീ വൈകുണ്ഠ ക്ഷേത്രം ഉയർന്നു വന്നു..
പിന്നീട്‌ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയെ കോലം കെട്ടിയാടിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.പാലായിയിലെ കൃഷ്ണൻ എന്ന മലയൻ വീട്ടിലിരിക്കവെ തേജസ്വിയായ ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ അവിടെയെത്തി.ഇന്നു പച്ചോല മെടഞ്ഞുണ്ടാക്കിയ കുടിലിൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങണം എന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട്‌ ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ മറഞ്ഞു.
അതിൻ പ്രകാരം ഉറങ്ങവെ അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു സ്വപനം കണ്ടു അതിൽ കണ്ട രൂപം നിനക്ക്‌ കോട്ടപ്പുറത്ത്‌ കെട്ടിയാടിക്കാമൊ എന്ന ചോദ്യവും.സങ്കീർണ്ണമായ രണ്ടു രൂപങ്ങളും പറ്റില്ല എന്നറിയിച്ചു. മൂന്നാമതായി കണ്ടത്‌ കുരുത്തോലകൾ അലങ്കരിച്ച ഒരു രൂപമായിരുന്നു.അത്‌ ആറ്റവും തോറ്റവുമുണ്ടാക്കി കെട്ടിയാടിക്കാം എന്നറിയിച്ചു.
അങ്ങനെ കോട്ടപ്പുറത്ത്‌ ആണ്ടു കളിയാട്ടം നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയെ ആദ്യമായി കെട്ടിയാടി.പാലായി പരപ്പേൻ എന്ന ആചാരം കോലക്കാരനു ലഭിച്ചു.പാലന്തായികണ്ണനെ പള്ളിക്കര കർണ്ണമൂർത്തി എന്ന ആചാരമുള്ള വണ്ണാൻ സമുദായക്കാരും കെട്ടിയാടുന്നു.
വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയെ കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന കോഴിക്കോട്‌ മുതൽ മംഗലാപുരം വരെയുള്ള കാവുകളിലെല്ലാം പാലന്തായിയുടെയും കോട്ടപ്പുറം ശ്രീ വൈകുണ്ഠ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെയും കീർത്തി പരന്നു കിടക്കുന്നു.
വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ അവതാരമായ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയുടെ ആരുഡ സ്ഥാനമാണ് നീലേശ്വരം കോട്ടപ്പുറം വൈകുണ്ഠ ക്ഷേത്രം. ഇവിടെ വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിക്കൊപ്പം അപൂർവമായി കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന തെയ്യക്കോലമാണ് പാലന്തായി കണ്ണൻ.
Palantai Kannan Theyyam
Kannan, who was a cow grazer in the family of Kuruvattukurup, who was a soldier of the king of Nileswaram, got tired one summer and ate a mango to satisfy his hunger.
Andi fell on Kuruvatu Kurup's niece. Kurup got the information. Kurup ran with a sword to kill Kannan who had insulted his clan. The two scared Kannans left their country and home and traveled to the north. Kannan came to Tulunad after crossing the Malayalam country. Crossing Nethravatipuzha, he reached Kovilkutuppadi village in Mangalore. There a woman was there. Thirsty asked him.
The grandmother heard Kannan's story and asked Kannan to stay there. So Kannan started living there. There was a Narasimhamurthy (Vishnumurthy) temple next to the house. Kannan took over the place by hitting Tali and Anthithiri. That area was the sacrificial land of the Jains. An iron rod that emerged from the sacrificial fire was worshiped in that temple. One day, the cat drank the milk that was offered in the temple. When the milk was missing, the grandmother asked, "What is the milk?" He was worried, not knowing what to say to his grandmother. After understanding the matter, his grandmother said, "It doesn't matter, dear, just think that I have mentioned your name."
Thus Kannan became Palantaikanna.
After the year 12, Kannan became a young man. The memories of his native country and petamma started bothering Kannan. Kannan told his grandmother about it. The grandmother agreed with sadness. The village came together to see off Palanthaikannan, who had become the eyes of the country. Kannan stood with his arms folded in front of the Vishnumurthy church where he had offered a lamp for 12 years. The letter was left
The iron rod dripped down and came to Kannan's hand.
Kannan left with the straw umbrella given to him by his grandmother. When he reached Netravatikara, Kannan crossed the river without waiting for the boat. Everyone watched in amazement.
Even so, Kannan's ankles were sore. In Tulu, the ankles are called Kadekar. Thus, the place came to be known as Kadekar. Kannan continued his divine journey with the rod full of Vishnumurti spirit.
Later on the way Kannan came, Vishnumurthy appeared and worshiped him. So Kannan crossed Moolapallipuzha and reached the Kotil of Moolapalli Kollan.
So Kannan reached Nileswaram, his native place. That's when he met Harikada who was a playboy.
After sharing the details, he invited Kannan to his house and asked him to take a bath in the Kadalikulam before eating.
Kannan was in water up to his waist in a pool full of lotuses. Kannan rushed towards Kannan like a tiger.
On that matra, it started jumping from Olaku. Kannan Churik cut all the lotuses in Kadalikulam and rushed to the west. Kurup ran home like a madman. When he reached there, Kurup was shocked. There was only red and fire where his ancestral house stood. All the cows in Ala have been captured by the fox.. The whole country began to see misfortunes. saw. came to his patanair
An astrologer was brought to find out the situation. It became clear in the problem thinking that a famous goddess had come over Kannan's circle and through his selfless devotion, Kannan had also become the son of God. It became clear that Kuruvat Kurup himself should carry stones and build a temple and enshrine Vishnumurthy and Palanthaikannan in Kottapuram Puzhiparap.
Accordingly, Kurup came to Kottapuram with the moment stone given by King Nileswaram on his head and built a temple and installed Vishnumurthy and Palanthaikannan. Thus Kottapuram Sri Vaikuntha Temple came up..
Later, Vishnumurthy was decided to be crucified. When a Malayan named Krishnan of Palai was at home, a brilliant Brahmin came there. Today, the Brahmin hid himself by asking him to sleep in a hut made of Pachola.
According to it, while he was sleeping, he had a dream and asked if he could tie the figure he saw in it to the fort. The third thing I saw was a figure decorated with kurutholas.
So a year's game was fixed at Kottapuram. Vishnumurthy was tied for the first time. The kolaka got the ritual called Palai Paraappen. Palantaikanna is also tied by the Vannan community who have a ritual called Pallikkara Karnamurti.
The fame of Palantai and Kottapuram Sri Vaikuntha Temple is spreading in all the villages from Kozhikode to Mangalore where Vishnu Murthy is tied.
Nileswaram Kottapuram Vaikuntha Temple is the Aruda Sthana of Vishnumurthy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Palanthai Kannan is the Theiyakolam which is rarely associated with Vishnumurthy here.
