PALOTT THEYYAVUM KOODEYULLOR THEYYAVUM ‘പാലോട്ടു തെയ്യവും’ ‘കൂടെയുള്ളോര്‍ തെയ്യവും’:
പാലോട്ട് ദൈവം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ‘പാലോട്ട് തെയ്യം’ വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ അവതാരമായ മത്സ്യത്തിന്റെ തെയ്യക്കോലമാണ്. പാലാഴിക്കോട്ട് ദൈവം എന്നതാണ് പാലോട്ട് ദൈവമായതെന്ന്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. പെരുവണ്ണാന്‍ ആണ് ഈ തെയ്യം വ്രതമെടുത്ത് കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്‌. നമ്പൂതിരിമാരുടെ തിടമ്പ് നൃത്തത്തിന് സമാനമായി തീയ്യപൂജാരി തിടമ്പ് നൃത്തമാടുന്ന കാവ് എന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധി അഴീക്കോട് പാലാട്ട് കാവിനു മാത്രം അവകാശപ്പെട്ടതാണ്.
പാലാഴിയില്‍ അനന്തശയനത്തിലുള്ള മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ പൊന്‍ കിരീടം ശ്രീ മഹാദേവന്റെ സമ്മതത്തോടെ ഗംഗ ഇളക്കി മാറ്റി. അത് പാലാഴിയില്‍ കൂടി തിരകളില്‍ സൂര്യനുദിച്ച പോലെ ഒഴുകി നീങ്ങി. ഏഴി മുടി മന്നന്‍ നഗരി കാണാന്‍ നൂറ്റെട്ടഴിയും കടന്നു അത് അഴീക്കോട് എന്ന അഴീക്കരയില്‍ വന്നടുത്തു.
മീന്‍ പിടിക്കാന്‍ വലയുമായി അഴീക്കര ചെന്ന ചങ്ങാതിമാരായ ചാക്കോട്ടു തീയനും പെരുംതട്ടാനും വല വീശിയപ്പോള്‍ അതിലെന്തോ തടഞ്ഞതായി തോന്നി. ഇറങ്ങി നോക്കിയപ്പോള്‍ കണ്ടത് മുടി മുത്ത് കിരീടമാണത്രെ. കോലത്തിരി രാജാവായ മുരിക്കാഞ്ചേരി നായരുടെ അരികില്‍ അവര്‍ ഇത് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചു. എല്ലാവരും ഇത് കണ്ടു അമ്പരന്നു. ശീതികണ്ടന്‍ തീയ്യനും പെരും തട്ടാനും നിയോഗം വന്നു ഉറഞ്ഞു തുള്ളന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. കണിശനെ വരുത്തി രാശി വെച്ച് നോക്കിയപ്പോള്‍ ആ കിരീടം ദൈവക്കരുവാണെന്നും പാലാഴിക്കോട്ട് ദൈവമെന്ന പേരില്‍ അതിനെ പൂജിക്കണമെന്നും ദൈവജ്ഞര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു.
മറ്റൊന്ന് പറയുന്നത് അഴീക്കോട് കടപ്പുറത്ത് മത്സ്യം പിടിക്കാന്‍ പോയോ മൂവര്‍ക്ക് (നായര്‍, തീയന്‍, കാതിയന്‍) കൈവന്ന കൂറ്റന്‍ മത്സ്യം തോര്ത്തിലാക്കി അവര്‍ ഓലാടന്‍ കുന്നുമ്മേല്‍ വെച്ച് ഓഹരി വെക്കവേ മീന്‍ അപ്രത്യക്ഷമായി. ജ്യോത്സന്‍ വന്നു അത് മത്സ്യാവതാരം പൂണ്ട വിഷ്ണുവാണെന്നു തിരിച്ചറിയുകയായിരുന്നു.
അണ്ടലൂര്‍ കാവ്, കീച്ചേരി പാലോട്ട് കാവ്, മാവിലക്കാവ്, മേച്ചേരി കാവ്, അതിയിടത്ത് കാവ്, കുഞ്ഞിമംഗലത്ത് മല്ലിയോട്ട് കാവ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ പാലോട്ട് ദൈവം എഴുന്നെള്ളിയത്രെ. വൈഷ്ണവ സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തിലുള്ള പാലോട്ട് ദൈവം തന്നെയാണ് ഈ കാവുകളിലോക്കെ ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇവ കൂടാതെ കമ്മാള വിഭാഗം നടത്തുന്ന പാലോട്ട് കാവാണ്‌ നീലേശ്വരം പാലോട്ട് കാവ്. എല്ലാ വിഷുവിനും ഈ തെയ്യങ്ങള്‍ കെട്ടിയാടും. വിഷു നാള്‍ തൊട്ടു ഏഴു നാളുകളിലായാണ് പാലോട്ട് കാവുകളില്‍ ഉത്സവം അരങ്ങേറുക.
പാലോട്ട് തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ കൂടെയുള്ള തെയ്യക്കോലമാണ് ‘കൂടെയുള്ളോര്‍ തെയ്യം’. വടക്കെ മലബാറിലെ അഞ്ച് കഴകങ്ങളിലും ഈ തെയ്യം കേട്ടിയാടുന്നുണ്ട്. ആ കഴകങ്ങള്‍ ഇവയാണ് നീലേശ്വരം തട്ടാചേരി പാലോട്ട് കാവ്, കീച്ചേരി പാലോട്ട് കാവ്, അഴീക്കോട് പാലോട്ട് കാവ്, അതിയടം പാലോട്ട് കാവ്, മല്ലിയോട്ട് പാലോട്ട് കാവ്. കണ്ണൂരിലെ കല്യാശ്ശേരി കീച്ചേരി പാലോട്ടുകാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് കർശന നിരോധനമാണുള്ളത്.

PALOTT THEYYAVUM KOODEYULLOR THEYYAVUM:
'Palot Theyam', also known as the Palot God, is the Theyakola of Matsya, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Palazhikot God is believed to be the God of Palot. It is Peruvannan who takes a fast and ties this Theiyam. Azhikode Palat Kav has the fame of Theiya Pujari Titampa dance similar to the Namboothiri Titampa dance. This theyam is tied by Vannans.
Lord Vishnu's golden crown resting in Palazhi was stirred by the Ganges with the consent of Sri Mahadeva. It floated through Palazhi like the sun shining on the waves. Eshi Mudi Mannan crossed a hundred roads to see the city and came to Azhikode.
Chakottu Thien and Perumtattan, friends who had gone to the shore with a net to catch fish, felt that something had stopped it.
When I looked down, I saw a crown of hair and pearls. They submitted it to the Kolathiri king Murikancheri Nair. Everyone was surprised to see this. Shitikandan was ordered to drink and Perum Thattan came and started to dance. When Kanishan was brought and looked at the zodiac signs, the sages told him that the crown was the flesh of God and that Palazhikot should worship it in the name of God.
Another says that the three (Nair, Thien and Kathian) went fishing on the shore of Azhikode and when they caught a huge fish, they staked it on the Oladan hill and the fish disappeared. The astrologer came and identified it as Punda Vishnu, the fish avatar.
Andalur Kav, Keecheri Pallot Kav, Mavilakav, Mecheri Kav, Atiyath Kav, and Malliot Kav at Kunjimangalat.
The Palot God in Vaishnava concept is worshiped in all these Kavas. Apart from these, the Nileswaram Palot Kav is a Palot Kav run by the Kammala section. These theiyas will be tied for every Vishu. The festival will take place in Palot Kav for seven days immediately following the Vishu day.
'Kudevullor Theiyam' is the Theiyakolam along with Palot Theiyam. This Theyam is heard in all the five Kazhaks of North Malabar. Those kashaks are Nileswaram Thattacheri Pallot Kav, Keecheri Pallot Kav, Azhikode Pallot Kav, Athiadam Pallot Kav and Malliot Pallot Kav.
