പുല ചാമുണ്ഡി തെയ്യം
പുലച്ചാമുണ്ടി - ഇത് പാർവതി ദേവിയുടെ അവതാരം ആണ്. പരീക്ഷണം കഴിഞ്ഞു ശങ്കരാചാര്യർക്ക് യാത്ര നൽകിയശേഷം ലോകരക്ഷക്ക് ദേവി അവതരിച്ചൂ എന്നാണ് ഐതിഹ്യം. പൊട്ടൻ തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന, പുലയസ്ത്രീ വേഷം ധരിച്ച പാർവതീസങ്കല്പത്തിലുള്ള തെയ്യമാണ് പുലച്ചാമുണ്ഡി എന്നും ഐതിഹ്യം ഉണ്ട്.

Pula Chamundi Theyyam
The story of Pula Chamundi Theiyat is about the appearance of Lord Shiva from the homam or yajnakunda (sacrificial fire) performed to help Goddess Kali.
She later appears before the head of a prominent clan in the area. She protects the family from ill health and demons. She appears to protect herds from being attacked by supernatural beings. She was given an arudha or shrine to pacify her and keep her from causing harm. A Theyam is tied annually to maintain her joy and happiness and to seek blessings.
A major attraction of Theiyat is her dress made of young coconut leaves. It is a ferocious Theiya and makes many movements and facial expressions that strike fear into those who witness it.
Pula Chamundi fulfills the wishes of devotees.
She is favored to defeat enemies and ward off evil eye and witchcraft. It is believed to ward off infectious diseases and bless the devotees with good health.
Every year Pula Chamundi Theyam is tied at Vishnumurthy Devasthanam Temple in Kasaragod Bedakam Arichepp Kalam, Kasaragod Cheruvathur Achamthurutti Sree Pachalton Devasthanam Temple, Mekunn Sree Poovallathil Temple and Vengeri Poten Temple in Kannur Thalassery Kathirur Meeth.
