തെയ്യത്ത്കാരി തെയ്യം
കാഞ്ഞങ്ങാടിനടുത്തുള്ള പ്രക്രതി ഭംഗിയാൽ സമ്പന്നമായ ഒരു കൊച്ചു ഗ്രാമമാണ് അരയി . അരയി കാർത്തിക കാവിലെ തെയ്യങ്ങൾ വളരെ പ്രത്യേകതയുള്ളതാണ്. പുലയ സമുദായക്കാർ കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന കാർത്തിക ചാമുണ്ടി, തെയ്യത്ത് കാരി, ഗുളികൻ എന്നീ തെയ്യങ്ങൾ കടത്ത് വഞ്ചിയിലൂടെ അക്കരെയുള്ള കാലിച്ചാൻ കാവ് ദേവസ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് എഴുന്നള്ളുന്നത് കൗതുകകരമായ കാഴ്ചയാണ്. അപ്പോഴേക്കും അക്കരെയുള്ള കാലിച്ചാൻ കാവിൽ കാലിച്ചാൻ ദൈവം ഉറഞ്ഞാടി തെയ്യങ്ങളെ വരവേൽക്കാൻ കാത്തു നിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരിക്കും. കാവിലെത്തിയ തെയ്യങ്ങൾ കാലിച്ചാനുമായി സംഭാഷണത്തിലേർപ്പെടുകയും മഞ്ഞൾക്കുറി നൽകി ഭക്തരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. തുടർന്ന് സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ ചില വീടുകളും സന്ദര്ശിച്ച് അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകിയ ശേഷമേ തെയ്യങ്ങൾ തിരിച്ചു കാവിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുകയുള്ളൂ

Arai is a small village rich in natural beauty near Kanhangad. Theyas in Arai Karthika Kavi are very special. It is an interesting sight to see the people of Pulaya community carrying the theyas of Karthika Chamundi, Theiyat Kari and Gulikan to the Kalichan Kav Devasthanam on the other side in a boat.
