ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യവും (നേത്യാരമ്മ തെയ്യം) യോഗ്യർ നമ്പിടി തെയ്യവും
കാസര്‍ഗോഡ്‌ ജില്ലയില്‍ മടിക്കൈ കക്കാട്ട് കൂലോത്ത് മേടം ഒമ്പതിനാണ് ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യം നേത്യാരമ്മ തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്‌. കൊലത്തിന്മേല്‍ കോലം ആയാണ് ഈ തെയ്യത്തെ കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്‌. നീലേശ്വരം രാജാവംശത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവ കഥയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന പടനായക വീരനായ യോഗ്യാര്‍ നമ്പടി തെയ്യം ആട്ടത്തിനൊടുവില്‍ ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യമായി മാറുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുക. പൂക്കട്ടി മുടിയും ദേഹത്ത് അരിചാന്തും അണിഞ്ഞു എത്തുന്ന യോഗിയാര്‍ നമ്പടി തെയ്യം ആട്ടത്തിനോടുവില്‍ പര്‍ദ്ദ ധരിച്ചു ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യമായി മാറും. മുഖം മറച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ഈ തെയ്യം നെല്ലു കുത്തുന്ന അഭിനയവും മാപ്പിള മൊഴിയിലുള്ള ഉരിയാട്ടവും ശ്രദ്ദേയമാണ്‌.
നീലേശ്വരം കോവിലകത്ത് ജോലിക്കാരിയായിരുന്ന ഒരു മുസ്ലിം സ്ത്രീ നെല്ലു കുത്തുമ്പോള്‍ തവിട് തിന്നതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ കോവിലകത്തെ കാര്യസ്ഥനായിരുന്ന യോഗ്യാര്‍ നമ്പടി ആ സ്ത്രീയെ ഉലക്ക് കൊണ്ടടിച്ച് കൊന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇതിനു മറ്റൊരു ഭാഷ്യം ഉള്ളത് ഇങ്ങിനെയാണ്‌. “കാവിലെക്കുള്ള ഉണക്കലരി തയ്യാറാക്കുന്ന കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ അയല്‍പ്പക്കത്തെ ഒരു ഉമ്മച്ചി (മുസ്ലിം സ്ത്രീ) ഉരലില്‍ നിന്ന് അരി വാരിയെടുത്ത് ഊതിപ്പാറ്റി വായിലിട്ടു നോക്കിയത്രേ. മേല്‍നോട്ടക്കാരനായ യോഗ്യാര്‍ ഇത് കണ്ടു കോപാകുലനാകുകയും കയ്യില്‍ കിട്ടിയ ഉലക്ക കൊണ്ട് അവളെ പ്രഹരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. മര്‍മ്മത്തില്‍ അടിയേറ്റ ഉമ്മച്ചി മരിച്ചു വീണു.” തുടര്‍ന്ന്‍ ദുര്‍ നിമിത്തമുണ്ടാകുകയും ഈ മുസ്ലിം സ്ത്രീ പിന്നീട് ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യമായും കാര്യസ്ഥന്‍ യോഗ്യാര്‍ നമ്പടിയും തെയ്യമായി പുനര്‍ജനിച്ചു എന്നാണു ഐതിഹ്യം.
മത സൌഹാര്‍ദ്ദത്തിന്റെയും സാഹോദര്യത്തിന്റെയും പ്രതീകമായി കാണാവുന്ന ഒരു തെയ്യമാണ്‌ ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യം. പണ്ട് ബ്രാഹ്മണ സംസ്ക്കാരത്തിനു സമൂഹത്തില്‍ സ്വാധീനം കുറവായിരുന്ന കാലത്ത് സമൂഹങ്ങളില്‍ ജാതിയുടെയും മതത്തിന്റെയും അതിര്‍ വരമ്പില്ലാതെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ സാഹോദര്യത്തോടെ ജീവിക്കുകയും പണിയെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതിനു തെളിവാണ് ഉമ്മച്ചി തെയ്യം.
Ummachi Theiyam and Yoghar Nampiti Theiyam
In Kasaragod district, Matikai Kakat Kooloth Medam is celebrated on the ninth day of Ummachi Theyam. This crime is tied to the murder. Yoggar Nambadi Theyam, the hero of Patanayak who is related to the origin story of the Nileswaram dynasty, turns into Ummachi Theyam at the end of the play. Yogiyar Nambadi Theyam, who arrives with flowery hair and body adornment, wears a veil and turns into Ummachi Theyam. This Theyam Nellu's acting while hiding his face and the Uriyattam in the Mappila Mozhi are memorable.
Yoggar Nambadi, who was the caretaker of the Kovilakam, killed a Muslim woman who was working at Nileswaram Kovilakam for eating bran while threshing rice. But there is another version of this. "During the preparation of dried rice for the morning, an ummchi (Muslim woman) from the neighborhood took rice from the husk and blew it and put it in her mouth. Yoggar, the overseer, saw this and got angry and hit her with a pestle in his hand. Ummachi was hit in the brain and fell dead. Legend has it that the Muslim woman was later reborn as Ummachi Theyam and her steward Yoggar Nambadi as Theyam.
Ummchi Theyam is a theyam which can be seen as a symbol of religious harmony and brotherhood. Ummachi Theyam is a proof that people lived and worked in brotherhood without the boundaries of caste and religion in the society in the past when the Brahmin culture had little influence in the society.
