വില്ലാപുരം കോട്ട ചുട്ടെരിച്ച് പാടാർ കുളങ്ങര എത്തിയ പുതിയ ഭഗവതിക്ക് ദാഹം തോന്നി.അവിടെ വച്ച് ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണനെക്കണ്ട ദേവി അയാളെ കൊന്ന് രുധിര പാനം ചെയ്ത് ദാഹം ശമിപ്പിച്ചു.ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പിന്നീട് തെയ്യമായി മാറി.
ഒരിക്കൽ രണ ദേവതയായ പുതിയ ഭഗവതി, ഭദ്രകാളിയോടൊപ്പം സഞ്ചരിക്കുബോൾ വഴിയരികിൽ കുളത്തിൽ ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ കുളിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു, തളിപ്പറമ്പ്അപ്പന് നെയ്യാമൃതും കൊണ്ട് പോകുകയായിരുന്ന ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണനുമായി രക്തദാഹിയായ പുതിയഭഗവതി ചങ്ങാത്തം കൂടുകയും പിന്നീട് ബ്രഹ്മണന്റെ തലയറുത്തു രക്തം കുടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു എന്നാണ് ഒരു ഐതീഹ്യം. അങ്ങനെ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ ദൈവ കരുവായി മാറി.

Veeran Theyam
After burning Villapuram fort and reaching Patar Kulangara, the new Bhagwati felt thirsty. There, the goddess met a Brahmin and killed him and quenched his thirst by drinking Rudhira. That Brahmin later became Theiya.
There is a legend that once upon a time, the Rana goddess Puthya Bhagavati was traveling with Bhadrakali and a Brahmin was bathing in a pond by the wayside, and the bloodthirsty Puthya Bhagwati befriended the Brahmin who was carrying Taliparamappan Neiyamrita and later lifted the head of the Brahmin and drank his blood. Thus the Brahmin became the son of God.
Veeran (Beeran) became a god called Theyam (Beeran Theyam in Tulunadu).
